My vacation is officially over and I am preparing for this weeks International Biblejournaling/Scraptherapy Zoom sessions I host. The last two weeks the theme’s were Forbearance and Kindness and this weeks theme is Goodness. These are part of the Fruits of the Spirit project. If you want to know more or want to join the sessions you are more than welcome to send me a message!
This week we are talking about Goodness and how that relates to praying, this verse is from 2 Peter 1:3-11 (NIV)
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these e has given us is very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
If I think about it more I think that making every effort is reading the Bible, doing good, love and also praying. With Praying and committing to a rich praying life we will never stumble. Goodness in doing good but also His goodness, so by doing good you receive His goodness but the difference is when you are not doing good, He still is good to you…..He will never let you down….
What do we do when we’re stuck in a rut of worry and wonder where this goodness is? How do we tune our hearts and minds away from circumstances and our limited understanding and combat the temptation to fall into fear? We Pray and shift our hearts and minds to Him.
